Learning from the best is how I got to where I am today, and I will forever be grateful to the authors who have shared their trade secrets. But I received a lot of bad advice along the way, too. I've spent (and wasted) a lot of time and money on author courses and workshops. That's why I'm here today.
This industry is flooded with so-called experts who claim to have the key to success. But the reality is there is no one size fits all. Everyone's business is as different as our books. The key is knowing how to pluck out the golden nuggets that will work best for you.
Below are a list of courses, books, and workshops that I found to be the most helpful on my journey to 7 figures. The opinions about each are my own, acknowledging that everyone has had different experiences.
For the established romance author, anything offered by New York Times Bestselling Author Skye Warren is pure gold. Her Facebook Ads Intensive changed my life. Whenever she offers a new course, I one-click without a second thought. Her knowledge about the romance book world is unparalleled.
However, her course offerings are not available year round. Check out the link below to see what she has open now. And be sure to subscribe to her author newsletter so you're the first to know when she's hosting a new workshop.
Skye Warren also runs Romance Author Mastermind (RAM), an in-person or digital conference where you can learn from the best in the industry. It's pricey, but worth every penny. This conference is usually held once a year, in the Fall.
I knew very little about Amazon Ads before taking this class. The AMS platform always felt so...well, more complicated than it needed to be. Mathew breaks it down in a very digestible way. I also found his classes to be very affordable.
Matthew's classes cater to all genres of authors, not specifically romance. While I felt that I learned more about Facebook Ad strategy from Skye, Matthew is great with teaching the data portion.
This conference is run by New York Times Bestselling Author Alessandra Torre. Much of the material covered at her conventions is best for newer authors. If you've been published for less than five years, you might want to take a look at it. If you've been at this for a while, I'd recommend signing up for the newsletter first before spending money on the Con. This way, you can see if there's anything that might suit you. I have, on occasion, found golden nuggets in the InkersCon Mini classes.
